Ford has released the last copy of the European Mondeo

Ford

Ford Motor continues to optimize its product range: the company has discontinued the European version of the mid-size Mondeo model without replacement.

The final copy left the factory in Valencia, Spain, on March 31 - Ford did not officially announce this, but the Spanish media published the information. The last Mondeo fr om the Old World is a metallic gray station wagon.

Together with the departure of the European model, the Mondeo of the CD391 generation, released in 2012, finally went down in history. In 2019, this generation was stopped in Russia (then Ford left our passenger car market), in 2020 - in the USA (wh ere it was known under the name Fusion), at the beginning of 2022 - in China.

Only exclusively for the Chinese market, Ford Motor at the beginning of 2022 released the next, fifth generation of the Mondeo - the concern does not intend to take it outside the Celestial Empire.

Ford executives have said repeatedly that the Mondeo/Fusion has run its course as buyers in Europe and North America shift towards crossovers and demand for traditional passenger cars - sedans and station wagons - steadily declines.

In China, on the same base as the new Mondeo, the Evos crossover is being produced - it is possible that such a model will also appear in Western markets.

Recall that the first generation Mondeo was released in 1993, shortly after that the model won the title of “Best Car in Europe in 1994”. In Russia, the fourth and fifth generation Mondeos were produced at the Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk, bearing factory codes CD345 and CD391, respectively.
