Ford Bronco received a version for extreme off-road

The range of the revived Ford Bronco frame SUV will be replenished with a new modification called the Raptor. Introducing this version, Ford Motor Chief Executive Jim Farley described it as a "desert racing beast".

The word Raptor ("predator") Ford calls deeply modified sports versions of pickups and SUVs. So far, the company's range has had two such products - these are third-generation F-150 Raptor pickups with a 3.5-liter gasoline bi-turbo engine with 450 hp. and the Ranger T6 Raptor with a 2.0-liter biturbo diesel producing 210 hp. The former is only sold in the Americas, while the latter is not sold in the US and Canada, but is offered in Southeast Asia, South America, and Australia.

Although the Bronco is based on the Ranger T6 chassis, the units and chassis here are different from the Ranger T6 Raptor. Under the hood of a sports SUV, a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 biturbo petrol is installed, its characteristics are not specified; on the Explorer ST crossover, such an engine produces 400 hp. of power and 563 Nm of torque, but Ford promises even greater performance on the Raptor - due to improved injection and cooling systems, as well as thanks to a dual exhaust system. The engine is combined with a 10-speed hydromechanical "automatic", the drive is permanent all-wheel drive. For high power, new Dana axles, an upgraded transfer case and a turbo jam prevention system were used. In tug mode, the machine can pull up to two tons.

The chassis uses semi-active Fox shocks with High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS). Its sensors monitor the height of the suspension and road conditions, and in a fraction of a second adapt the stiffness of the shock absorbers when they break away from a hard surface. For extreme riding, the base frame and shock mounts are reinforced, as well as stronger suspension arms designed by Ford Performance.

The front suspension travel of the Bronco Raptor is 33 cm, the rear suspension travel is 35.5 cm. That is, relative to the regular Bronco, it is increased by 60 and 40%, respectively.

The wheel track has been extended by 21.8 cm compared to the standard model.

The Raptor's torsional rigidity is 50% higher than the original SUV's thanks to reinforced crossbars.

The ground clearance of the sporty Bronco is 33.3 centimeters; so that the driver is not afraid to rush off-road at speed, vital components are protected by thick steel sheets.

The machine rests on the ground with wheels with an outer diameter of 37 inches and a landing of 17 inches, and the discs are composite. The tires are branded BF Goodrich K02, and Ford press service calls them the largest ever factory-spec passenger car.

From the outside, the Raptor is recognizable not only by its wheels, but also by its massive fender flares, original fender and hood panels, as well as version name badges and a modular front bumper with towing lugs. Offered a unique bright orange hue.

Inside, there is a steering wheel with an increased rim thickness and sports seats.

The Ford Bronco Raptor is homologated for use on public roads (the low-volume Bronco DR professional rally car, for example, does not).

Sales of Bronco Raptor will start in March, the estimated price in the US is from $75,000.
