The American company Hennessey Performance Engineering is preparing to introduce a modified version of the Ferrari 458 Spider supercar called the HPE700 Twin Turbo 458.
The car retained the old 4.5-liter V8 engine, but thanks to low-inertia turbochargers and a flashing of the engine control unit, it began to develop 738 hp. at 8400 rpm instead of the standard 570 hp at 9000 rpm. Torque has also increased: from 540 Nm at 6000 rpm to 722 Nm at 5600 rpm. It is worth noting that the supercar also received a new stainless steel exhaust system.
Thanks to the improvements, the dynamic characteristics have also improved. So, acceleration to 60 miles / hour (96 km / h) takes only 2.8 seconds from the modified Ferrari 458 Spider - taking into account the factory 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. By the way, a standard supercar develops 100 km / h in less than 3.4 seconds.
It is also worth noting that tuning was not limited to the engine. Other improvements include adjustable shock absorbers, 20-inch forged wheels, and other trim. In the future, the Americans plan to develop a package of aerodynamic body elements for the supercar.
Hennessey Performance Engineering expects that the modified version of the Ferrari 458 Spider will be able to compete with the 700-horsepower Lamborghini Aventador. The company estimated the cost of the improvements themselves at $59,995.
