Ferrari has unveiled the 488 Spider, the most powerful open-top model in the brand's history. The world premiere of the car will take place next autumn in Frankfurt.
The 488 Spider is built on a space frame made from 11 different aluminum and magnesium alloys. Thanks to this, the engineers were able to achieve the same torsional rigidity for the Roadster as the 488 GTB Coupé. The open supercar turned out to be only 50 kg heavier than the coupe and weighs 1525 kg.
The car also became the most aerodynamically perfect in the history of Ferrari. The car received a special front spoiler and a bottom design with swirlers. The electric roof, weighing 25 kg, is able to expand it or remove it into the compartment above the engine in 14 seconds. The roadster's rear windshield is electrically adjustable with three positions.
Under the hood of the car is a turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine, known from the 488 GTB coupe. The motor develops 670 hp. power and 760 Nm of thrust already at 3000 rpm. The car will accelerate to the first “hundred” in three seconds, and to the second in 8.7 seconds.
The car is equipped with the SSC2 system, which helps to control the drift angle - if an excess is detected, then the electronics will help to “catch” the sports car. The complex also allows you to exit corners 12% faster than the previous most powerful roadster of the brand - 458 Spider.
