Ferrari unveils 830-horsepower 296 GTB coupe with compact V6 under the hood

The Italian Ferrari has expanded its range with the 296 GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta) mid-engined two-seater coupe. The model occupied its unique niche in the range of the brand, and became the most powerful representative with a V6 engine.

Ferrari launched its first car with a V6 under the hood back in 1957, and traditionally the company gave the name Dino to cars with this ICE configuration, however, in the current line of the 296 GTB coupe brand, it will be the first representative with this type of ICE, although the Italians still produce V6 engines , however, for Formula 1 racing cars.

The volume of the 296 GTB turbo engine is three liters, the power is an impressive 663 hp, the collapse of the block is 120 degrees, the cut-off is at 8500 rpm. Paired with the internal combustion engine is a 167-horsepower electric motor, an eight-speed two-disc "robot" and a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 7.45 kWh. The total output of the power plant is 830 hp, the thrust is transmitted to the rear wheels. The power reserve on a single charge is 25 km, acceleration to 100 km/h is given to the coupe in 2.9 seconds, to 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds, the maximum speed exceeds 330 km/h. The curb weight of the car is 1470 kg.

In the exterior, the car is not replete with aerodynamic delights: the novelty does not have flaps, deflectors and a massive diffuser. But there is an active rear wing that generates 100 kg of downforce. The bumpers of the 296 GTB have very wide cutouts (probably for efficient cooling of the power plant and brakes), behind the doors on the sides of the body there are large air intakes in the engine compartment.

The interior is covered with a combination of red and black leather, behind the three-spoke steering wheel (on which the driving and power plant operation modes are placed in the form of buttons and switches) there is a digital instrument panel. But the multimedia system is not to be seen at all, obviously, the Italians do not want those present in the cabin to be distracted from the car.

In Europe, the novelty is priced at 269,000 euros in the base version and 302,000 euros in the Assetto Fiorano track version (with adaptive dampers, carbon fiber body elements and a special livery).

Deliveries of machines to customers will begin in early 2022.
