Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari plans to use turbocharged engines, according to Motor Trend.
The reason for the departure from traditional atmospheric engines is the tightening of environmental standards in Europe. Turbo engines with the same power have a smaller working volume and, accordingly, better indicators of efficiency and environmental friendliness. Ferrari already has experience using such engines, including on the famous F40 supercar, whose 2.9-liter V8, thanks to the use of two turbines, produced 478 hp, which ensured the car accelerated to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. , and the maximum speed reached 324 km / h.
Whether Ferrari will completely switch to turbo engines, or atmospheric engines will remain in its lineup, has not yet been reported.
