Chinese DongFeng Motor has announced the imminent premiere of a new full-size frame SUV under the Mengshi sub-brand. The promising model promises to be something special on a global scale, and not just in the context of the DongFeng product portfolio.
The premiere of the new Mengshi will take place on February 18, on the eve of it, DongFeng distributed blacked out promo photos (teasers). However, what the car looks like is already known - its unofficial pictures got into free access. Judging by them, it will be a huge SUV with massive body shapes and complex design of the front.
The overall length, width, height of the new Mengshi are 5970, 2160 and 2155 mm, respectively, the wheelbase is 3700 mm. Curb weight - 3750 kg, load capacity - 2000 kg. The car will be perfectly adapted to heavy off-road conditions: the angles of entry and exit are 33 and 36 degrees, respectively, the depth of the ford to be overcome is more than 800 mm, and the ground clearance is 400 mm.
The SUV will be equipped with a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel with a return of 315 hp. and 1050 Nm. It is combined with a 6-speed "automatic" and permanent all-wheel drive, a locking center differential is provided. All suspensions are independent.
It is assumed that the new product will be assigned the index M20.
As a reminder, DongFeng spun off the Mengshi name as a separate subsidiary brand in 2022. The name itself is not new - since 2002 it has been used for a diesel all-terrain vehicle, which is a copy of the American Humvee / Hummer H1. Since 2022, it has been decided to produce a whole line of brutal SUVs under this brand.
