Daihatsu Motor has unveiled a rally version of the Copen sports kei car at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka, Japan. The car is designed to compete in the upcoming Copen GR Sport Rally Japan monocup.
The rally Copen was created in collaboration with professional motorsport team SPK D-Sport and parts manufacturers Nifco and AGC.
Relative to the standard car, the original reinforced brakes with six-piston calipers, a fireproof fuel tank, an automatic fire extinguisher, a roll cage, and forged wheels are used.
There are no changes to the engine and transmission, which means that the Copen GR Sport Rally is equipped with a standard 660cc turbo engine with 64 hp. and a torque of 92 Nm. In the transmission - 5-speed manual or stepless variator, front-wheel drive.
