Chrysler 200 scores high in crash test

Chrysler

The Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan scored the highest in small-area crash tests. This type of test is conducted by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

According to the results of the crash test, the car body retained the necessary free space around the driver, and the data recorded by the dummy sensors indicated a low probability of serious injury in an accident. The frontal airbag kept the driver's head from moving, and the side "curtains" did not allow it to come into contact with objects outside the cabin.

Other than that, the sedan received the highest overall score from the IIHS - Top Safety Pick +. Note that now, for this achievement, the test car must be equipped with an autonomous braking system to prevent accidents - a similar mechanism in the Chrysler 200 completely stopped the car at a speed of 20 km / h and significantly slowed down the car before a collision at a speed of 40 km / h.

The new generation of the Chrysler 200 sedan was first introduced during the Detroit Auto Show in January 2014, and went on sale in the US in June. The model is equipped with front or all-wheel drive, as well as one of two possible engines: a 2.4-horsepower TigerShark family engine (184 hp) or a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar (295 hp). The motors are paired with a nine-speed automatic.
