GM will release a pickup truck based on the TrailBlazer crossover

Chevrolet

Chevrolet Motors may expand its lineup of pickup trucks in the coming years with a new compact monocoque model based on the TrailBlazer crossover. It is reported by the publication Motor1.

It is alleged that the management of the General Motors concern (Chevrolet is part of its structure) is forced to take such a step due to the high demand for new cars of competitors - Hyundai Santa Cruz and Ford Maverick: in August, the South Korean pickup truck showed the best dynamics among new models, and the brainchild " blue oval” booked more than 100,000 orders in just three months after the start of applications.

Unlike the Ford Maverick, which is already equipped with an economical hybrid power plant based on a 2.5 engine, the Chevrolet pickup is likely to receive a compact 1.3 turbo engine with 150 hp. from the donor crossover TrailBlazer. This will allow Chevrolet to undercut Ford's cost of production and sell its new car for about $18,000, which is $2,000 less than dealers are asking for the Maverick.
