General Motors has added a top version of the Z06 to the mid-engine C8 generation Chevrolet Corvette range.
The fundamental difference between the novelty and the old Corvette Z06 is a naturally aspirated engine, the previous version of the model had a supercharged engine.
The machine is equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 GM LT6 with a "flat" crankshaft, power - 670 hp, torque - 624 Nm. The engine is adapted to work under peak loads for a long time, that is, the car is addressed to fans of races on racing tracks. The engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In the Corvette Z06 chassis, the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 adaptive suspension is strengthened relative to the base car, brake discs of a larger diameter (14.6 inches in front and 15 in the rear) and six-piston calipers are installed.
From the outside, the top-of-the-line Corvette is recognizable by its wider fenders, aggressive aero package, and 275/30 ZR20 front and 345/25 ZR21 rear wheels.
In the model hierarchy, the Z06 is one step above the Stingray, which has a 495 hp engine. and a torque of 637 Nm.
From standstill to 60 mph (97 km/h) the novelty accelerates in 2.6 seconds.
An optional Z07 package includes carbon-ceramic brakes, a larger spoiler, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires and a different suspension setup. In this case, the downforce at 300 km / h reaches 333 kg instead of 166 kg for the standard Corvette Z06.
