Chevrolet, owned by GM, has begun selling its most powerful petrol unit in the brand's history for passenger cars, the 10.35-liter V8 Crate ZZ632 series with 1004 hp in the US. The cost of the engine in the US is an impressive $37,758, which is more than local dealers ask for a base Chevrolet Camaro coupe.
Recall that the novelty was presented on October 21, it belongs to the Big Block family and is not intended for primary equipment of cars, this is the so-called crate engine, “engine in a box”, that is, they plan to ship it only to the secondary market - for use in individual tuning projects or track cars.
The manufacturer emphasizes that the intake and exhaust ports for each cylinder of the ZZ632 have the same cross-sections, unlike other Big Block motors, in which they differ from cylinder to cylinder. In addition, ZZ632 is equipped with individual injectors - this improves engine performance. Maximum power is reached at 6600 rpm.
The block casting of the ZZ632 is the same as the 9.4-liter ZZ572 that debuted on the track version of the Camaro sports car this summer. However, the cylinder diameter of the ZZ632 is larger (machining is different).
Engine deliveries to customers are scheduled for early 2022.
