Chevrolet Bolt electric car updated, cheaper and got a cross version

Chevrolet Bolt is the most massive electric car produced by General Motors, which entered the market in 2017. In the fifth year of production, the models were restyled and unexpectedly added a platform "relative" - the crossover Bolt EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle).

The standard Bolt has changed markedly. It has a completely new “muzzle” with two-story optics that are fashionable today: there is only a DRL strip on top, the main headlight unit is located below. The bumper insert in place of the radiator grille is made in body color to emphasize that this car does not need air flow, because the Bolt does not have an internal combustion engine.

At the back, there are lanterns of a different shape, another glass of the fifth door and a bumper.

The interior is like from a completely new model. Designers changed the front panel, seats and even door trim, installed a push-button switch for driving modes instead of the usual automatic lever.

As for the cross-version of the Bolt EUV, at first glance it almost does not differ from the Bolt EV. Yes, the body here is longer (4306 mm versus 4145 mm), as is the wheelbase (2675 mm versus 2600), but the style is identical. And only with a careful comparison of the two modifications of the "Bolt" it becomes obvious that they are completely different. They do not have a single common body panel! As an example of the differences: the headlights consist of two separate elements, while the regular Bolt has a single “two-story” ensemble.

But there are no technical differences between the brothers. In both cases, a 203 hp electric motor is used. (360 Nm) and a battery with a capacity of 65 kWh. The same filling was used on the pre-styling version of the electric car. The power reserve is 416 and 402 km (the crossover is a little heavier, so it consumes a little more energy). Electric vehicles support fast charging with a power of 11 kW, thanks to which you can get plus 150-160 km in 30 minutes.

The basic package includes the Safety Assist complex, which monitors obstacles, automatically brakes and keeps the electric car in the selected lane. At the same time, adaptive cruise control with the second level of Super Cruise autonomy is available only for Bolt EUV. This is the first Chevrolet with such a system (previously it was offered only for Cadillac).

Together with the update, Bolt has fallen in price: now it costs from $31,995, that is, $5,500 less than before. The Bolt EUV starts at $33,995 and will go on sale in the US in the summer of 2021.
