The first electric Bentley will be a crossover

Bentley

In July 2020, Autocar reported that Audi was developing a flagship electric car and this project was called Artemis, but as it turned out now, this is the name of a new electric platform, and Bentley's first electric car will be created on its basis, writes Car Magazine.

“Looking forward to the electrification [of the Bentley lineup], we are looking forward to working more closely with Audi,” said British brand CEO Adrian Hallmark. “However, we will still have strong relationships with the other two VW brands [Audi and Porsche] and we see this as an opportunity, not a risk. Without a doubt, we are preparing for electrification. And we need to find the best way to accelerate this and take on the technological challenges.”

The first electric car of the brand will be a crossover, Bentley will show it in 2025. According to Adrian Hallmark, it is at this point that high-voltage batteries will become lighter, and the time will come for the transition from internal combustion engines to electric motors.

In addition to the new electric car, Bentley is working on a plug-in hybrid version of the Flying Spur sedan, which is due to premiere this year. Later, the Continental GT coupe will also get a plug-in hybrid installation.
