Volkswagen-owned British luxury car maker Bentley Motor Cars plans to add a purely electric model to its range in 2025.
The promising car will be part of the Beyond100 strategy, which aims to become a carbon neutral company by 2030. The term refers to zero carbon dioxide emissions from the production of products (either through offsets or reductions to zero emissions).
The Bentley electric car will be produced at the company's existing facilities in Crewe, in the center of Britain. Moreover, the bodies in a welded, but unpainted form are planned to be shipped by sea from the Volkswagen plant in Hannover, painting and final assembly will be carried out in England. At the same time, the production of Audi's platform-based executive electric car will be 100% located in Hannover.
Bentley is building a new "dream plant" using state-of-the-art technology in close proximity to the current Crewe plant. Bentley Dream Factory is created for the production of only electric models, the range of which will expand. This site will operate on the principles of zero environmental impact - without sewage and various wastes. It turned out to be cheaper to build an enterprise from scratch using modern technologies than to modernize existing buildings that have been in operation since 1936.
By 2030, Bentley plans to completely abandon the production of cars with internal combustion engines and switch to pure electric vehicles.
