Bentley CEO praises China for record growth in demand for its products

British luxury car maker Bentley is facing an unexpected rise in sales of its products, up 50% in January compared to the same month in 2020. Reason: demand in China, delayed due to the pandemic, fired.

According to the results of January 2021, Bentley production also increased significantly, writes Reuters. The companies were unable to prevent either the UK's exit from the European Union or disruptions in the supply of microchips.

“The order bank at the beginning of this year was 50% larger than at the beginning of last year,” commented Adrian Hallmark, CEO of the automaker. “China is by far the most outstanding performer in the world in terms of orders compared to normal expectations.”

In general, sales of new cars of all brands in China in January 2021 increased by 29.5% year on year, to 2.5 million units. Such data is provided by the China Passenger Car Association.

For all of 2020, Bentley sold 11,206 vehicles. This is 2% more than a year earlier, and a record figure in the entire 101-year history of the company. Thus, even the pandemic and lockdowns did not interfere with her.

Bentley is part of the Volkswagen Group.
