Honda Motor has launched a farewell special version of the Acura NSX Type S flagship sports car. The first two copies, painted in Gotham Gray matte color, were assembled on January 21 at the Performance Manufacturing Center site in Marysville, Ohio, USA.
Recall that the NSX Type S is a limited edition coupe. The car in the American specification was presented in August 2021, in Japanese - at the end of the same month.
This is a farewell special version of the Honda Motor mid-engined all-wheel drive sports car. In total, it is planned to build 350 copies: 300 for the US market, 30 for Japan and 20 for the rest of the world. All cars were sold out at the start of accepting applications.
The power of the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 has increased from 507 to 527 hp, torque - from 550 to 600 Nm. This was achieved through the use of new turbochargers from the racing NSX GT3 Evo, more efficient injectors and a larger intercooler.
In the NSX hybrid system, engineers have increased the battery capacity by 20% and its maximum output by 10%, which allows the three electric motors to consume more energy (exact data not published). As a result, the installation produces a total of 608 hp. and 667 Nm (+27 hp and +22 Nm compared to the regular NSX).
The nine-speed “robot” has learned to shift up gears 50% faster. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD all-wheel drive system now has more precise thrust vectoring, helping to improve cornering speed.
In the US, the base price of the sports car was $169,500.
Recall that the second generation Acura NSX has been produced since 2016. So far, Honda has not revealed plans for a successor.
