Honda presented the new generation Acura MDX crossover

Acura

Honda Motor introduced the new, fourth-generation Acura MDX mid-size crossover in the US in October. But then the manufacturer showed only a prototype and did not go into technical details. Now the serial version of the car has finally debuted.

MDX has grown by 71 mm in length (up to 5054 mm) and 35 mm in width (up to 1996 mm). The “cabin” is moved 15 cm further from the front axle – this creates the feeling of a classic “rear-wheel drive” silhouette.

The Acura corporate identity has been preserved both outside and inside. Individual elements are reminiscent of the new TLX sedan. A similar pentagonal grille is used here, which is supported by tapered JewelEye LED headlights.

The interior features a 12.3-inch Precision Cockpit digital instrument cluster and a center display of the same size. There was a 10.5-inch projection on the windshield. The True Touchpad Interface touchpad is used to control the main functions. The base includes an audio system with 7 speakers, for an extra charge you can choose ELS STUDIO 3D with 12 speakers with a total power of over 550 watts. ELS STUDIO 3D Premium already has 16 speakers at 710 watts.

For the first time ever, the MDX is equipped with a double wishbone front suspension coupled with a "multi-link" at the rear. This is done in order to achieve more precise control. The front subframe is now rigidly mounted. New rear shock mounts helped improve stiffness by 41%.

When entering the market, the Acura MDX will receive only one engine - a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with a capacity of 294 hp. Later, he will be accompanied by a 360-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. A 10-speed "automatic" is included in the base. Drive - front or full. In the second case, the car is equipped with a SH-AWD system that can regulate the thrust vector. Electronics can transfer up to 70% of the torque to the rear axle, while sending up to 100% to a specific wheel.

The new crossover will be assembled at the company's plant in Ohio. The base price tag is $46,900.

Earlier, Acura tried to enter the Russian market with MDX, but due to the 2014 crisis, nothing sensible came of it.

Recall that the outgoing, third-generation Acura MDX has been produced since 2013. In the US, an average of 50,000 of these cars are sold annually.
