Honda Motor has unveiled a high-speed Type S modification of the Acura Integra compact liftback. The novelty was created specifically for North America.
Acura Integra shares a common chassis with the Honda Civic, the two cars are largely unified in terms of components and assemblies. Not surprisingly, the Acura Integra Type S is powered by the same powertrain as last year's Honda Civic Type R, the 2.0-liter Honda K20C1 turbo-four.
The maximum power of the engine on the Acura is symbolically indicated at 320 hp, versus 315 on the Honda Civic Type R for the North American market. Transmission Integra Type S only mechanical 6-speed.
The front brakes are from Brembo, with four pistons and a fixed caliper. The car is equipped with a limited slip differential and adaptive dampers in the suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels and 265/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Externally, the Acura Integra Type S is distinguished by a sporty body kit made of rear wheel arch extensions, sills, developed bumpers: the front one with an increased air intake area, the rear one with an imitation diffuser and three exhaust pipes.
The aluminum hood with air intake opening and wide front fenders are all original parts of the Acura Integra Type S.
The Acura Integra Type S will go on sale in North America in June.
