Honda Motor introduced the NSX Type S coupe to the Japanese domestic market. This is a farewell special version of the company's flagship sports car. Only 30 of these machines will be sold in the country. The price is 27.94 million yen (=18.7 million rubles). Orders will start on September 2nd.
The international version of the NSX Type S was presented earlier in August. It will be sold under the Acura brand. In Japan, the NSX is traditionally offered under the Honda brand.
The farewell modification differs from the usual NSX in minor technical changes. The power of the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 has been increased from 507 to 527 hp, and the torque has been increased from 550 to 600 Nm. This was achieved through the use of new turbochargers from the racing NSX GT3 Evo, more efficient injectors and a larger intercooler.
In the NSX hybrid system, engineers have increased the battery capacity by 20% and its maximum output by 10%, which allows the three electric motors to consume more energy (exact data not published). As a result, the installation produces a total of 610 hp. and 667 Nm (+29 hp and +21 Nm compared to the regular NSX).
The nine-speed “robot” has learned to shift up gears 50% faster. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD all-wheel drive system now has more precise thrust vectoring, helping to improve cornering speed.
The car is wrapped in 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear Pirelli P-Zero tires designed specifically for the NSX.
In Japan, the NSX Type S will be available in ten body colors, including the unique Carbon Matte Gray Metallic. Also, buyers will be able to choose interior design: the shade of the seat upholstery and seat belt.
In the US, the base price of a sports car is $169,500. At the same time, the first copy of the car was sold for a record $1.1 million. A total of 350 cars are planned to be built: 300 for the US market, 30 for Japan and 20 for the rest of the world.
