The Acura TLX sedan appeared in 2014, when it replaced the TL (a large five-meter sedan) and TSX (a copy of the European Honda Accord) models. Now the company has rolled out the second generation of the model.
Visually, the novelty is very similar to its predecessor. When viewed from the front, they can be completely confused, even if they are standing next to each other. In fact, the body here is completely new, designed from scratch. The harbinger of the novelty was last year's Acura Type S concept car.
But the interior has been radically redesigned. Only the push-button selector of the “machine” reminds of the last generation of TLX, and even he changed his place of deployment. The quality of finishing materials has increased, natural leather and wood veneer are used.
Conservatism is felt in some things: the dashboard has not become digital, and the central display is touch-sensitive. To control the media system, a True Touchpad is provided, which allows you to adjust most of the functions blindly or almost without being distracted from the road.
However, what is hidden from the eyes is more important. Since the last sedan did not show the highest sales (up to 40 thousand cars a year in the US), Acura decided to change the format and rely on drive. The new generation TLX is being hailed as the fastest and best handling car in the company's 35-year history.
Especially for the Acura TLX, a new platform was developed with a double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Adaptive dampers are available as an option.
Radical changes have also occurred in terms of power units. "Atmospherics" are a thing of the past, they were replaced by turbo engines of 2.0 and 3.0 liters. The return of the first is 276 hp. and 380 Nm. The characteristics of the second are not yet known (it will be installed on the TLX Type S version).
The sedan uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. The database provides front-wheel drive, for an extra charge you can order the all-wheel drive system SH-AWD. It has individual couplings for connecting the rear wheels, which allows it to control the thrust vector.
Sales of Acura TLX will begin in the fall. Prices have not yet been announced, but the price will start somewhere around $30,000
