Acura has developed a new generation of RDX crossover from scratch

Acura

The Acura RDX Prototype crossover was shown at the Detroit Auto Show. As the name suggests, the car is still in prototype status. Judging by the details, its differences from the production version are minimal.

The company claims that the machine is completely new - this is the largest development in the last 10 years. For Acura in the US, the success of the RDX is very important, since a third of the brand's sales fall on this particular model. In addition, it is the most sought after crossover among millennial buyers.

The car was developed on a new platform, never before used anywhere. With the change of generations, the crossover added in size and received a design in accordance with the current brand concept. Its central element is a lattice in the form of a "diamond" pentagon.

Under the hood, instead of a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, there is now a 2.0-liter turbo engine, but its return is not specified. It is known that the supercharged unit develops 40% more thrust than the former "aspirated" with an indicator of 340 Nm. The gearbox is a 10-speed "automatic" of its own design.

Buyers will be able to choose between the base front-wheel drive version and the SH-AWD all-wheel drive system.
Inside the RDX, you can see a traditional analog instrument panel, a 10.2-inch multimedia system screen, a head-up display, a panoramic roof, a Wi-Fi hotspot with a 4G communication standard and a 16-channel Mark Levinson audio system. It is noteworthy that the control of the multimedia system is implemented through the touchpad under the main screen, the manufacturer claims that this is much more convenient than that of competitors with touch screens.
