Mazda, Honda and Nissan to suspend factories in Japan for various reasons

Mazda Motor will stop production on February 7 and 8 at two of its plants in Japan: in Hiroshima and Hofu. This was reported in the press service of the company on February 4.

The reason lies not at all in the lack of electronic components, as one might assume, but in the abnormally cold weather in the east of North America. Low temperatures will interfere with the rhythmic supply of spare parts from the US to Japan, so the conveyor will have to stop for two days.

Representatives of Mazda did not specify whether the suspension will affect the production of new cars.

Also, the Nikker Asia edition on February 4 reported a reduction in production at the Japanese plants of Honda Motor and Nissan Motor during February. Honda will reduce production by 10% from the planned level - up to 60,000 vehicles per month.

The stoppage is due to a delay in the supply of components from Southeast Asia due to the December flood in Malaysia. Honda became the first Japanese automaker to announce the impact of this incident on production, other companies may follow suit.

Nissan said it would cut production in February by 10,000 vehicles, down 4% from its original plan.
