Jeep has revived the grand luxury SUV Grand Wagoneer

Jeep

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer SUV was produced from 1984 to 1991. After that, the base model Wagoneer was buried (in its place came the Grand Cherokee). But Chrysler has been hatching a plan to revive the legendary name for years. In the fall of 2020, the Grand Wagoneer concept was presented, and now the production model has also been shown.

Visually, the SUV is almost no different from last year's prototype. Basically, the difference is due to small details: a wiper appeared on the trunk lid, and the side mirrors became larger. There are subtle changes on the front end as well, but in general the style has been transferred to the production model almost in its original form.

Both the base model Wagoneer and the top version of the Grand Wagoneer are presented. Such a division was in the 80s.

The resurrected Wagoneer is built on the platform of the full-size Ram 1500 pickup, sharing a base frame and suspension. The internal elements of the Vagonir body up to the middle pillar are unified with the frame of the Ram 1500 cab, however, they do not have a single identical external panel.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer is positioned as a premium car. There are no areas of bare plastic in the cabin - everything is sheathed in leather. The front panel has a T-shaped architecture, there are no details in common with the Ram 1500, although the relative position and proportions of the elements are very similar to the original pickup.

All Wagoneer versions come with three rows of seats. Seats can be seven or eight, depending on the configuration. As many as seven displays are scattered around the cabin - this is a combination of instruments (diagonal 10.3 inches), a central media system (10.1 inches), an individual one for the front passenger (10.3 inches), a "comfort display" in the lower part of the console (10, 3 inches) and three screens for rear passengers (each 10.1 inches).

The base Wagoneer is equipped with a signature 5.7-liter V8 petrol with 397 hp. It's hooked up to a 48-volt hybrid system that adds 176 lb-ft (588 lb-ft in total). For the Grand Wagoneer, meanwhile, a 6.4-liter V8 is prepared, developing 478 hp. and 619 Nm. With such an internal combustion engine, a large SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in about 6 seconds. Both engines are equipped with a variable valve timing system and are able to turn off half of the cylinders. Regardless of the internal combustion engine, the car is equipped with an eight-speed "automatic".

All-wheel drive is also included in the “base”, but three different systems are available: Quadra-Trac I, II and Quadra-Drive II. They differ in off-road capability. The latter offers a "creeping" transmission with a ratio of 48:1.

Air suspension is standard on the Grand Wagoneer. It allows you to vary the ground clearance (in the upper position - 25 cm). Active noise cancellation, acoustic glass with an internal layer of metal oxide and additional door seals are designed to keep the silence as quiet as possible.

Production of the Jeep Wagoneer will take place at the Stellantis plant in Warren, Michigan. The vehicles will arrive at US dealers in the second half of 2021. Prices start at $59,995 for the Wagoneer and $88,995 for the Grand Wagoneer.
