In the US, a train derailed with dozens of new pickups and SUVs

Jeep

An incident that hurts the heart of any motorist occurred in Nevada: a train carrying brand new cars derailed there. A total of 33 wagons went downhill.

The pictures released by the local sheriff reveal a heartbreaking picture: newly released cars are piled on top of each other or lying next to the railroad tracks.

The wagons mainly carried Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Some cars were more fortunate, they did not fall out of the cars, so in theory these copies could do with only dents and scratches. However, it is unlikely that manufacturers will try to restore them or sell them at a discount: usually in such cases, car companies completely write off the entire batch in order to avoid liability problems later.

Edition Hooniverse.com drew attention to a couple of interesting details. First, it praised the reinforced roof of the red Jeep Gladiator, which withstood the rollover without difficulty. Secondly, the use of stamped wheels on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra is curious: the presented versions are sold immediately with alloy wheels. It turns out that the manufacturer installed simpler wheels on them just to take them to the dealer. This is probably how the company insures against a possible raid by robbers. Similar stories sometimes happen in the US. For example, in 2016, wheels worth $200,000 were stolen from a dealership.

Fortunately, there were no human casualties in the incident.
