At the international motor show in Jakarta (Indonesia) debuted the third generation of unified minivans Toyota Avanza/Daihatsu Xenia. Recall that these models are produced in Indonesia specifically for the markets of Southeast Asia.
If in the previous two generations Avanza / Xenia had a frame chassis with a rear-wheel drive with a solid axle, then in the new incarnation these machines have become fundamentally different - a load-bearing body and front-wheel drive. MacPherson type independent suspension in front, twisting torsion beam in the back. The platform is modular DNGA.
The length and width of the new minivans are 4395 and 1730 mm, respectively, the height is 1665 or 1700 mm, depending on the modification. Wheelbase - 2750 mm. Relative to the previous generation Avanza / Xenia, the length is increased by 205 mm, the width is increased by 70 mm, the wheelbase is increased by 95 mm. In addition to the standard version of the Toyota Avanza, a sports-styled Toyota Veloz is offered, which has its own design of the front and rear parts of the body.
Both models will be offered the same range of engines, including 1.3-liter 1NR-VE and 1.5-liter 2NR-VE gasoline engines. The first develops 98 hp. power, the second - 105 hp. The first engine is combined only with a five-speed manual transmission, the second - with a five-speed manual gearbox or stepless variator.
The interior of minivans has seven seats; they are arranged in three rows according to the traditional 2 + 3 + 2 scheme.
All Avanza / Xenia trim levels have a seven-inch digital instrument panel, an electronic parking brake, a nine-inch media complex, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, and two front airbags.
The production of cars is organized at the Indonesian plant Daihatsu Motor. Prices on the local market for new minivans will start at $14,500. Sales have already started.
