In Indonesia, introduced a new generation of compact crossover twins Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush. Models of the outgoing generation have been produced since 2006, and elongated versions were produced for Southeast Asia, which eventually survived the Japanese source codes.
As expected, in terms of layout, the models became closer to compact vans. The design is largely the same as the 2015 Daihatsu FT Concept. From the outside, Daihatsu and Toyota are almost identical, but differ in trim levels. In particular, the TRD Sportline version is available for Toyota with 17-inch wheels, a “generous” plastic body kit and special stickers.
Length, width, height of Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush are 4435, 1695 and 1705 mm respectively. The wheelbase measured 2685 mm. That is, the new crossovers remained approximately the size of their predecessors in an elongated modification, but thanks to the “minivan” layout, the length of the cabin increased by 170 mm. Most of the increase came in the luggage compartment - its length is increased by 150 mm. The layout of the cabin is 7-seater, in three rows.
The new crossovers are built on the frame chassis of the Daihatsu Xenia/Toyota Avanza minivans. Surprisingly, the new products have rear-wheel drive. It should be noted here that the elongated Terios / Rush of the outgoing sample for Southeast Asia were also produced only with rear-wheel drive. However, the clearance of the new crossovers is decent - 220 mm.
Under the hood of the twins will be placed a 1.5-liter gasoline engine Toyota 2NR-VE with a capacity of 104 hp. It is aggregated with a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-band "automatic".
The new Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush will go on sale in January 2018. They will be made in Indonesia. The main competitors of newcomers in the markets of Southeast Asia are Honda BR-V and Mitsubishi Xpander.
