Daihatsu Motor has unveiled the second generation Move Canbus kei car. Recall that this model is made in the form factor of a subcompact van - it has a short hood and sliding rear doors.

The new Move Canbus is built on the DNGA modular platform – it is noted that thanks to it, the car, compared to its predecessor, is much better tuned in terms of handling, stability and comfort.

Distinguishing the second generation from the first is not easy - the two-volume body shape, the “floating” roof, rounded block headlights and lanterns are preserved. However, in reality, cars do not have a single common external part.

The load-bearing structure of the body has become more elements of high-strength steel - this allowed to throw off 50 "extra" kilograms, which contributes to increased fuel efficiency and improved vehicle stability on the road.

Move Canbus II is powered by the latest 0.66L KF 3-cylinder petrol engine (maximum capacity for kei cars). Power is 52 hp. in atmospheric version or 64 hp — in turbocharged.

Inside, there is a horizontal architecture of the front panel, its middle part is made with a ledge, has a convenient cup holder and niches for small things. The press service of Daihatsu notes that the designers sought to endow the interior with a sense of home comfort.

There are two style configurations of the Move Canbus II - they are called Stripes and Theory.

Stripes offers a two-tone body color (with graphic separation along the waist stamping) and light gray inserts in the cabin.

Theory is a one-color body color, but chrome moldings and edging on the doors and bumpers. Inside, this version features rich brown accents in the front fascia and door cards, as well as bright blue fabric upholstery on the seats.

The inside of the new Move Canbus is deeply thought out in terms of usability. You can secure suitcases and tall bags in the trunk with one hand. On the backs of the front seats there are hooks for bags with groceries. Both sliding rear doors are powered. The cup holder can keep the temperature of the liquid in the mug at 42 degrees for two hours. There is wireless smartphone charging.

Media system with a 10-inch display - with the function of synchronization with a smartphone via Apple Carplay or Android Auto.

Move Canbus II received a set of preventive safety systems of the latest generation, including automatic emergency braking. The system includes a stereo camera that improves the detection of obstacles at night, including pedestrians and cyclists. The package also has automatic prevention of "false start" due to the mixing of the brake and gas pedals and adaptive cruise control.

Mention should also be made of the electronic parking brake and hill start assist.

In all cases, the Move Canbus II is equipped with a stepless variator, but the drive can be front or all-wheel drive (at the option of the buyer).

Dimensions repeat its predecessor: length - 3395 mm, width - 1475 mm, height - 1655 mm. The first two parameters are the maximum allowed for key cars. The wheelbase has grown by 5 mm and now stands at 2460 mm.

In Japan, Daihatsu dealers have already begun accepting orders for the new Move Canbus, which costs between 1,496,000 and 1,919,500 yen, depending on the configuration.

The car of the previous generation has been produced since 2016, in six years it has sold 380,000 copies.
